The aim of this course is to enable professionals to understand life planning. both from a theoretical perspective and practically so they can design and. implement life planning programmes for individuals and within organisations. Help individuals manage life changes successfully. ? Assess the effectiveness of life planning education and make appropriate changes. About this course
Candidates will normally hold an honours degree from a recognised university. Those holding professional qualifications with at least two years relevant professional experience can also apply.

Course Content:
The course is made up of four modules.
Modules 1, 2 and 3 are core modules:
Module 1- Theories of Life Planning.
Explores the main perspectives of life planning, including sociology, psychology and biology. This module is studied face-toface and by distance learning.
Module 2 - Adult Learning, Facilitation and Evaluation in Mid-Life and Pre-
Retirement Planning.
This module will enable you to understand education and facilitation theories relevant to life planning. This module is studied by distance learning.
Module 3 - Managing Change, Transition and Diversity during the Adult Life Span.
Explores the concepts of managing change. Key models & their relevance to life planning will be considered. You will also focus on diversity and the needs of different groups. This module is studied by distance learning.
Module 4 can be selected from:
- The Practice of Facilitation
Enables students to build their facilitation skills and apply them to life planning. This module is studied face-to-face. - Financial Education
Details the economic processes that impact on the individual from the state, business and society, in relation to life planning. This module is studied by distance learning. - Health Promotion and Older People
Reviews the context of health promotion to life planning by individuals and organisations. This module is studied
face-to-face. - Organisational Change and Age Diversity Policy and Practice
Highly relevant and engages the student in a review of age appropriate work practice within organisations. This module is
studied by distance learning. - Citizenship in the Life Course
To exlore the role of citizenship in the 21st century within a life planning context. This module is studied by distance learning.
Assesment
The course is assessed through written assignments as well as observed practice for The Practice of Facilitation module.
Progression
After successful completion of the Postgraduate Certificate in Life Planning,
students can progress to the Postgraduate Diploma in Life Planning and then MSc.
