WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?
This course is a foundation level programme in Personnel Support at an equivalent level to NVQ/ SVQ Level 3.
This qualification is intended for anyone working as a personnel assistant, personnel administrator or personnel officer whose role is to provide support for the personnel function. Or someone new to, or aspiring to a career in Personnel or HR. Line Managers, supervisors or team leaders who want to gain the same level of personnel skills as practitioners at this level, or owners / managers of small businesses.
It is intended to:
Develop the skills needed in Personnel work
Serve as an introduction to the work of the Personnel department
Develop an awareness of the context of Personnel functions and the key issues that impact upon them
Serve as a basis for further studies in Personnel
WHAT DO I NEED?

You will need to attend classes on:
1b910-09: Monday 14th September 6.00pm 9.30pm or
1b911-09: Thursday 18th September 6.00pm - 9.30pm
You will need to attend for a minimum of 80%. In addition, you will need to spend at least 2 to 4 hours per week on course work.
WHAT WILL I ACHIEVE?
Successful candidates are awarded the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development Certificate in Personnel Practice and are eligible for Associate Membership of the Institute.
WHAT CAN I DO AFTERWARDS?
You can improve your employment prospects or progress onto the Post Graduate Diploma of Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development.

Recruitment and Selection
Key stages of recruitment and selection
Job analysis, job descriptions and person specifications
Recruitment methods and testing proceedures
Selection interviewing
MODULE 3
Performance Management and Employee Relations
Objective setting and performance reviews
Motivation and handling past performance
Giving and receiving constructive feedback
Counselling skills
Grievance and discipline
Reward systems and administration
MODULE 4
Training and Development
Introduction
Identifying training needs and apraisals
Links between business plans and training and development
Designing a learning event to meet identified needs
Preparing and delivering a learning event
Evaluating training and development
MISCELLANEOUS
CIPD student evening - introduction to local branch
Project Workshop, including research skills (attendance required on one Saturday)
Self Management - appraising own performance, improving learning and reflection on own performance for the purpose of learning.
