Entry requirements are A-C in English, maths, science plus one other e.g. design technology and successful completion of an entry assessment paper. All students must display a positive attitude and have excellent attendance. Who The Course is for
This course is for school leavers and adults interested in a career in plumbing.
Successful students tend to:
- have practical skills and good hand skills
- be able to follow technical drawings, building plans, and other instructions
- be fit and strong enough to carry tools and materials
- be interested in maths, engineering and science subjects.
Course Content
You will study City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Basic Plumbing, OCNW Preparation for Employment in Construction Industries, key skills level 2 in application of number and communications. Areas covered include:
- key plumbing principles
- maintenance of hot and cold water systems
- electrical supply and safety
- soldering
- bending and fixing pipework
- using plastic pipe/low carbon steel pipe
- leadwork
- fitting bathrooms/ airing cupboards.
All elements are assessed and must meet City & Guilds standards.
Entry RequirementsLearning & Assessment Methods
Assessment is via multiple choice examination and practical tests.
Qualifications Gained
On completion of the course students will have gained a Technical Certificate City & Guilds Level 2 in Plumbing Studies (Domestic) qualification, awarded by City & Guilds.
Progression Opportunities
Successful students may progress onto the City & Guilds Level 3 in Plumbing Studies.
Career Opportunities
This course may allow students to gain employment at an entry level position or onto an apprenticeship.
