This course aims to develop experience in working the reflexes of the foot, thus enabling the practitioner to develop an impression of the client?s health. The course includes tuition and development of practical skills in reflexology and relevant anatomy and physiology. Successful candidates will be awarded both the SQA Higher National Unit in Reflexology and a College Certificate in Reflexology.
COURSE CONTENT
Part 1 - Anatomy Physiology
Study of systems of the body with emphasis on the circulatory and lymphatic systems and in-depth Anatomy. Disorders of the body systems.
Attendance is one evening per week for 17 weeks.
Part 2 - Reflexology
Zones and mapping of the hands and feet; Condition of the feet e.g., corns, athletes foot
etc., contra-indications, client reaction to treatment, taking an assessment prior to treatment, holistic approach to mind, body and spirit.
The theory of reflexology: how it works, care of individuals e.g., children, diabetics, the frail etc. Client care and professional ethics, practical preparation, reflexology techniques, hygienic precautions and record keeping.
Attendance is one evening per week for 26 weeks.
* Learners require to wear a tunic and trousers for this practical class.
