Course overview This qualification covers the skills and knowledge needed when supporting teaching and learning in a school; that is the role of the teaching assistant. It also covers how to work with others to achieve shared objectives when supporting the learning of individuals or groups of pupils, planning and child protection. This course is suitable for those wishing to work in primary, middle or high school. Entry requirements Ideally you will need GCSE or equivalent in English and maths at grade C or above. However we will consider applications from those with either maths or English at Grade C or above and, encourage you to study the qualification (maths or English) that you have not previously achieved alongside this course. You will participate in a face to face interview and initial assessment of numeracy and literacy skills. You will need to provide a clear DBS (the paperwork for this can be completed in College if necessary). You will also need to find your own school placement.
