Together, Ben-Gurion University Eilat campus and Study in Israel are now internationalizing BGU-Eilat’s hospitality and culinary arts program. The program will be taught in English and will include internships at the large four and five-star hotels in Eilat.

This all-inclusive program covers almost everything you need to focus on making the most of your internship and studies. We provide the accommodation, 3 meals a day, medical insurance, airport pick-up and return, tours, enrichment workshop, local coordinator, and more!

About this course

To teach you Kosher, Israeli, Middle-Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine and help you grow you professional experience with these types of cooking methods and styles.

- The academic study and internship program is intended for students in the field of culinary arts.

- Ability to understand spoken English language - lessons available

- The student will undergo 150 hours of professional internship a month (on average 4 shifts of 9 hours a week).
- The one-time application and registration fee of $250 USD.
- Full Tuition of $1,700 USD paid 45 days before program starts.
- The student must adhere to the hotel’s guidelines and procedures.
- The student must adhere to the program's rules and regulations (no violence, no illegal substances, cannot work during program etc.)

Culinary Arts experience

Participants in the program will receive weekly enrichment lessons on three topics: The reality of hotel management, the culture and history of Israel and the Middle East, and Hebrew lessons.

Course programme

Participants with a background in cooking can spend their internships gaining certifications in Israeli, Middle-Eastern, and MediterraneanCuisine.

The courses would include the following topics (subject to change):
  • Israeli Cuisine: Salads, Entrees, Folk Foods, Vegan, and Fish-Based Starters.
  • Mediterranean Cuisine, Cooking, and Recipes: Greek, Spanish, Moroccan, and Italian.
  • Middle Eastern Cuisine: Egyptian, Yemenite, and Lebanese.
  • Pastry: Classic and Mediterranean.
  • Theoretical Lessons: Wines & Alcohol, Nutrition, Food Hygiene & Sanitation, Cooking Safety, and the Kosher Kitchen.
Culinary training hours: Around 200 on campus at Ben-Gurion University – Eilat.

Additional information

In the hotel kitchens the following languages are supported: English, Hebrew, Russian, Arabic, and Spanish.

WHAT’S INCLUDED IN THE INTERNSHIP?

1)    Pickup and return transportation to and from airport.
2)    Israeli coordinator.
3)    ‘Soft landing’ orientation of Israeli life.
4)    Accommodation – 2 people sharing a double bedroom (single-sex rooms – complex is co-ed).
5)    Free wi-fi at the accommodation.
6)    Three meals a day – served in the hotel employee dining room.
7)    $200 monthly stipend (equivalent paid in local currency – Israeli Shekels)
