Computational Fluid Dynamics, or CFD is an essential tool in the design process of turbomachinery. Nonetheless, the accuracy of performance data obtained from CFD typically depends on the skill of the designer/engineer in generating grids, selecting the turbulence closure, setting up boundary conditions, and interpreting results. The purpose of this short course is to enhance the skills of CFD practitioners in this field by reviewing the state of the art of CFD for turbomachinery design and analysis and to present the latest achievements in CFD with an outlook toward this class of applications. The three days course is organised as a series of monographic lectures by the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics at City University London covering all the key aspects that may be encountered to achieve reliable numerical predictions and to estimate the associated uncertainties. The list of lecturers includes some of the most prestigious academic figures, leading professionals in the turbomachinery industry and developers of commercial CFD software. The list of confirmed speakers includes:
Prof. Ugo Piomelli - Queens University Canada Prof. Ricardo Martinez Botas - Imperial College Prof. Li He - Oxford University Prof. Abdulnaser Sayma - City University London Prof. Alfredo Pinelli - City University London Dr Senthil Krishnababu - Siemens Course Information Dates and Fees to be confirmed Tutor Info Tutors include: Abdulnaser Sayma Alfredo Pinelli Eligibility There are no specific eligibility criteria. Nonetheless, this course is especially addressed to:
Employees within industry looking to use CFD in turbomachinery analysis in the field; Researchers or postgraduate students who plan to use CFD methods as part of their research project; Experienced engineers looking for a refresher course.

Teaching and Assessment
The course is divided in two sections. The first one, covered during the first day will introduce the basic concepts of Computational Fluid Dynamics with special emphasis on the finite volume method. The second part of the course (date to be confirmed) will focus on CFD topics related with flows in turbomachinery. The second part of the course will be structured as a set of specialised lectures.Applicants can freely choose between the 3 days course or the 2 days specialised course. There will be no assessment process.
