This course is an integrated training and assessment session leading to a Lantra Awards Certificate in Basic Training. This route is suitable for someone who intends to use the chainsaw for business, domestic or leisure activities, but does not intend to work in forestry or arboricultural activities or work on Forest Enterprise land or fell timber above 200 mm (8"). Course Content
Maintenance and Crosscutting:
- Workshop safety awareness - guide bar, saw chain and power unit maintenance - re-assembly
- Health and safety features - lubrication and fuelling - personal protective equipment
- Starting and pre-cutting checks - site safety awareness - crosscutting and stacking timber
Basic Felling Techniques (up to 200 mm in diameter):
- Preparation - felling - de-limbing - takedown of hung up trees
