Course review:
Proven to have the biggest impact on survivability, Emergency or First Responders are the essential link for those that are injured or acutely ill, especially in remote locations. The Challenging Environments Emergency Responder (CEER) courses enable you to provide initial support and co-ordination of evacuation to further medical support, not only in the golden hour but also in the platinum ten minutes after injury.
The CEER Basic and Intermediate courses - underpinned by the IHCD/RCS FPOS award - aim to provide those travelling and working overseas in challenging and often hazardous areas of the world with the appropriate knowledge and skills to provide the immediate response to casualties. Especially where there is either a delayed, unskilled or non-existent emergency ambulance service.
The courses provide the essential knowledge and skills – focussing on instilling a sound understanding of the “what’s”, “why’s”, and “when’s”, as well as the "how’s” – that are the underpinnings of pre-hospital care. This allows CEER trained personnel to adapt and react appropriately for the benefit of their injured colleagues, when circumstances occur outside of the “norm”.
During the 5 days you will gain an in-depth knowledge of the following topics:
- Scene safety and mechanism of injury
- Airway management
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- Defibrillation and administration of oxygen
- Breathing assessment and support
- Bleeding and haemorrhage control
- Management of burns
- Extremity trauma management
- Basic head injury management
- Medical emergencies
- Road traffic collision management
Not only will you learn how to deal with a casualty prior to and during despatch to definitive care but you will also learn to use a plethora of equipment in common use by ambulatory personnel. This enables you to assist members of emergency medical services, should it be required, in the event that they are able to arrive on-scene.
he C.E.E.R Basic and Intermediate courses are underpinned with the First Person on Scene Basic and Intermediate qualification - FPOS - and provide the students with Edexcel BTEC/IHCD awards, recognised in over 80 countries world wide. The awards also meet the Security Industry Authority first aid requirements. No previous qualifications are required.
