About the Course
On this two year course you will complete both academic and practical work at level 3. You will be working in a range of placements for two days a week and you will study the following nine units plus three optional units. You will also have the opportunity to study one A Level or GCSE alongside this Diploma.
Unit 1 An introduction to working with children
Unit 2 Development from conception to age 16 years
Unit 3 Supporting children
Unit 4 Keeping children safe
Unit 5 The principles underpinning the role of the practitioner
Unit 6 Promoting a healthy environment for children
Unit 7 Play and learning in children†s education
Unit 8 Caring for children
Unit 9 Development of professional skills within children†s education
Course Aims
To provide the knowledge and practical training to enable you to work with children up to the age of 16.

You will complete tests, a range of tasks and produce detailed reports and reviews of your professional practice in placements.
Fees
No Course Fees for Under 19's. Over 19's must pay, or claim Level 2 or Level 3 Entitlement for FREE courses .
What next?
This qualification prepares you to work unsupervised, or in a supervisory capacity, with children and their families in a variety of settings. Alternatively you may go onto higher education to study childcare or education at
degree level.
