You will need to show: awareness of the need for a caring and empathetic manner (e.g. voluntary work, mentoring, play schemes, after school clubs; good communication skills (oral and written); the ability to show initiative and work independently (e.g. producing portfolios); evidence that you have researched the range of career options and evidence of excellent attendance.

A CRB check is a compulsory element to this course. Students are expected to pay the full cost (approximately £36) and additional costs may be incurred if sufficient evidence cannot be provided (passport, driving licence etc)Academic standards are assessed both internally and externally by assignments, a research task and external tasks.Throughout the two years of study, students will undertake practical training in a variety of settings in order to apply what you learn in a practical environment.The Diploma will be awarded UCAS tariff points, which allows for progression.This qualification prepares students to work unsupervised with children and their families in a variety of settings and also, environments within the sector of Childrens Services. Students can also progress to Higher Level qualifications, for example, nursing or teaching. This will be subject to the individual requirements of the university or Higher Education college.
