0-8 years
1.1 Describe the main development of a child from age ranges 0-2 yrs,
3-5 yrs, 5-8 yrs (e.g. physical, intellectual, social, emotional, language)
1.2 Identify the key social, economic and environmental factors which may
influence development
1.3 Describe the effects of one factor from each area on child development
2. Recognise the basic needs of
children from 0-8 years including
any special needs a child may have
2.1 Identify the developmental needs of children 0-2 years, 2-5 years,
5-8 years e.g. physical, intellectual, language, emotional, social
2.2 Discuss how these needs may change with children in certain
circumstances e.g. hospitalisation, bereavement, physical disabilities,
learning difficulties
3. Understand the importance of
meeting the developmental needs
of children
3.1 Identify how developmental needs can be met in each area - physical,
intellectual, language, social, emotional
3.2 Describe some of the consequences if the developmental needs are not
met
4. Recognise the importance of
confidentiality relating to childcare:
