Child Development IGCSE

The ideal home study course for anyone interested in learning about childcare and development.

If you are planning to work with children, start your own family or are bringing up your own children then this course could help provide all the information you need.

The course covers all the stages from pregnancy and childbrith onwards, including babyhood and early years development, dietary needs and changing family life.

The IGCSE assessment consists of one written examination (2hrs - 100 marks), and two coursework tasks as follows:

Paper 2: Child Development Study. You will need to submit a report/record of your first-hand experience of studying one child or a group of children aged up to 5 years. You cannot overlap any subject matter with the Paper 3 task.

Paper 3: Practical Investigation. You will need to research and present your findings on either an investigation using a range of procedures from any area of the syllabus, or a comparative study of consumer items such as baby foods, picture books, toys. You will need to produce a booklet or leaflet which could be used to explain your findings to a parent or any other interested party. You cannot overlap any subject matter with the Paper 2 task.
