CHILD PROTECTION SUPERVISOR'S COURSE (2 DAY COURSE)

ABOUT THE COURSE

Supervision is a vital key to the successful protection of children. This course is aimed to develop awareness of the supervisor’s role in the child protection process and provides the opportunity to develop skills within the role.

This is a two day course and relevant for all who work in a management or supervisory role within a childcare setting.
The lack of good supervision is a common theme within many fatal case enquiry reports. The need for clearly defined supervision objectives and standards is essential in the child protection framework. It is a very practical course which will enable everyone to reflect and learn from previous experiences with particular emphasis on recognising professional dangerousness.

AIMS & OBJECTIVES

This course aims to:

  • Raise awareness of the guidance, policies, research and legislation that impact on, and form the back-cloth to child protection work.
  • Provide structured time for reflection, exploration and planning around child protection practices.
  • Develop the skills and knowledge to enable course participants to recognise dangerous practice through supervision.
  • Identify the key elements of personal performance.
  • Work on strategies to challenge dangerous practices and to enable supervisors to overcome the barriers within the supervision setting.

On completion of the course delegates are provided with course materials and are awarded a certificate. The training will commence at 9:30am and finish at 3:30pm. This course runs with a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 25 delegates.
