There are no formal requirements. It is competence based. Candidates need to be working in any childcare setting for a minimum of ten hours per week and have considerable experience (minimum of 2 years) either supervising others or working with unsupervised.

Description
This programme of study is designed to enable adults working in the community in a voluntary or paid capacity to combine their experience with part-time training provision to achieve NVQ qualifications. The course has a unit structure. The basic award of 5 core units is supplimented with 4 specialist units offered to allow candidiates to match the qualification to their jobs. You are working in face-to-face roles with children, young people (aged 0-16 years) and families.

What will I study?
Care Units:

CCLD 301 Develop and promote positive relationships.
CCLD 302 Develop and maintain a healthy, safe and secure environment for children.
CCLD 303 Promote children';s development.
CCLD 304 Reflect on and develop practice.
CCLD 305 Protect and promote children';s rights.
Plus 4 Optional Units that best suit your responsibilities.

How will I learn?
Thr underpinning knowledge is delivered using a range of methods, including tutorials, group work and projects. Candidates are encouraged to develop the skills and knowledge which will allow them to work independently where possible. Practical activities will play a central role within the course. Time spend in placement is vital to the learning approach, where candidates learnb from experience.

How will I be assessed?
Assessment will be carried out in your workplace at your request when you will be observed in a praactical situation with children to show that you understand the underpinning theory. You will produce a portfolio of supplementary evidence in support of your assessment.

HNC/HND Advanced Practice in Working with Children and Families.
