Applicants should have an appropriate SCQF Level 8 qualification, such as a relevant HND or equivalent, and/or 240 credits at SCQF level 8, to enter at Level 9 of the BA degree qualification. All applicants will be interviewed, and Disclosure Scotland checks undertaken.

Course description
How do I attend?
The course is a part time programme. Modules are delivered through traditional sessions with tutors or in a blended learning format, using a virtual learning environment and group instruction.

Students will have access to ICT facilities at College sites but should preferably have access to a PC with an internet connection at work or home.

What will I study?
The course takes a holisitic view of children-s development, learning and well-being. Core modules provide a sound theoretical underpinning knowledge of the issues for the wide age range of children from birth to 16 years.

Generic subjects such as research and ethics related to children are also included in the core modules.

Modules included in the course, at SCQF Level 9, are:
  • Promoting children's rights and inclusion issue in current professional knowledge and understanding
  • Developing a work-based project
  • Managing and leading quality services, co-ordination, partnership and integration in childhood practice
  • Managing a workplace project

This degree would be ideal for those who wish to work in education, social work or healthcare, or to further their careers in these fields.
