About this course
You will need to be working with children (0-16). We may be able to help you find a post if you are not yet employed in this field, but we cannot guarantee this. You will need a good standard of written English and Maths so that you can achieve Functional Skills awards. You will need proof of commitment to study and acquire practical skills at level 2.

Children's Care Learning & Development (CCLD) Level 2 Apprenticeship
About the Course
This one year course enables 16-18 year olds to gain all the components of the Level 2 Apprenticeship.
You will be in college for one day per week and will study for the NVQ 2 in Children's Care, Learning and Development plus the Certificate in Children's Care, Learning and Development. You will also complete a 12 hour Paediatric First Aid Qualification and an induction covering workplace employment rights and responsibilities.
You will be assessed in your workplace by NVQ assessors. You will study Functional Skills in English and Maths at Level 1. To gain your Apprenticeship you must be successful in all of these.
You may be advised to purchase text books to support your learning. Full details will be given at interview.

What are the entry requirements?
How is the course assessed?
You will be assessed in your workplace and will produce a portfolio of evidence. You will also sit examinations for your Functional Skills and Certificate in Children's Care, Learning and Development.

Fees
No Course Fees for Under 19's. Over 19's must pay, or claim Level 2 or Level 3 Entitlement for FREE courses .
Are there any other costs?
You may have to pay for a Criminal Record Bureau Check.
What facilities can be used on this course?
You will use college based resources during your day in college. These will include a base room, access to computers, books and journals in the Learning Resource Centre and you will be supported by your tutor and assessors.
What next?
You may decide to progress to the Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship when you have had the relevant experience in working with children and you have gained the support of your employer to do so.
