Children's Care, Learning and Development - Level 2

The NVQ Level 2 Children's Care, Learning and Development is designed for those working in a supervised capacity with Children, Young People (0-16) and Families. It involves building skills and knowledge in relation to care, support and the developmental needs of children. Example job roles are Nursery Assistant, Special Needs Assistant and Créche Worker.

Prior to joining the course you have an interview where an initial assessment is carried out to determine the correct level for you. You can start training with triangle without having gained previous qualifications, or previous course of study. These awards are for people who currently work, or want to work, in a Childcare environment.

Course content

There are six mandatory units and one optional unit. These are some of the units you would acquire:

• Contribute to positive relationships
  
• Support children's play and learning
  
• Support children's development
  
• Help to keep children safe.

NVQs will benefit both you and the organisation where you work. NVQs also raise the quality of service provided by Childcare staff. All the skills are recognised and measured against National Standards.

NVQ learners are assessed on their performance in the work setting by qualified assessors from triangle. Learners will also be required to attend training sessions delivered by triangle. This will give the relevant underpinning knowledge and understanding in children's care, learning and development criteria.
