Summary:

NVQs are nationally recognised awards. The award enables a candidate to prove competence for the work they already do in their settings. At Level 3 candidates are generally working at supervisory level though may not have the relevant qualifications.

The course is designed for those working in early years occupations such as nursery nurses, classroom assistants, playgroup workers, community-based service, full day-care and childminders.

Course Length:
Approximately one year. Start dates in September, January and April with further dates available (subject to demand).
Entry Requirements:

Must be employed in the field of childcare, preferably in a supervisory position, at least 3 days per week. Must be 18 or above.

Assessment:
You will be allocated a 24 hours of assessment time and will be supported by an allocated assessor during the length of your qualification. NVQ assessors will observe your achievements and skills in your workplace and will aid you to collect a portfolio of evidence for assessment. There are no examinations.

Attendance is flexible to meet your individual needs. More information will be available at induction.

Academic Progression:
On completion of the course you can progress to a Foundation Degree in higher education or NVQ level 4 in children's care, learning and development. This can lead to Management positions and with further study, Early Years Professional Status or Teaching.
