Please note that this course will remain under the title 'BTEC First Diploma Children's Play, Learning and Development' however Child Care qualifications are currently under review and future changes are expectedWe believe the future of research lies in breaking down traditional barriers between academic disciplines so the bigger problems of the 21st century can be considered from human as well as physical perspectives. We have a number of interdisciplinary research themes, which fit closely with international research priorities.

Core Units: Understanding children's development Keeping children safe Communication with adults and children Preparing and maintaining environments for children Professional development, roles and responsibilities in Child care Specialist Unit: The Development and Care of babies and young children under three years You will undertake 300 hours of work experience which forms a compulsory part of the course, 30 hours attached to Unit 1, 30 hours attached to Unit 3 and 240 hours attached to Unit 5. You may also have the opportunity to retake a GCSE in English or Maths.
