Course programme

Description

The NVQ in CCLD Level 2 is suitable for those who work under supervision in a
face-to-face role with children between the ages of 0 and 16 years, such as
nursery officers, creche workers, special educational needs assistants and pre school practitioners.

Qualification overview

The NVQ is a skills benchmark. Achieving Level 2 is an assurance that the candidates skills are up-to-date and at the necessary level. The qualification can lead to increased responsibility, higher pay grades and promotion. This award gives candidates an opportunity to meet and network with fellow childcare professionals.

The qualification is structured to allow the candidate to work at their own pace, with their own assessor during working hours.

Timescale

3 to 18 months, dependent on the individual candidates competencies.

Content

Core units

Optional units

Assessment

Candidates must complete six core units plus one optional unit in order to gain the full award.

Assessment is through direct observation within a childcare setting combined with inspection of supplementary evidence such as assignments, professional
discussion, witness testimonies and work products.

Awarding body

The awarding body for this qualification is Edexcel.
