About this course

There are no set entry requirements; however a D in GCSE English would be preferred. Also subject to interview. Students should be at least 16 years of age and must be enthusiastic about working with children.

This course can be taken as part of the GCSE Plus Programme

How will I be assessed?
This is assessed through written assignments, there is no exam.

What can I do afterwards?
If you achieve a distinction grade, you may choose to continue in full-time education and progress onto a Level 3 course in Childcare or Health & Social Care. Alternatively, on successful completion of this course, you will have a range of career and employment options open to you, for example as a classroom or nursery assistant.

Are there any additional costs involved?
We require you to complete a Criminal Records Bureau check. Staff at the College will provide guidance for completion of the form. Learners will need to provide evidence of identity, passport, driving licence or birth certificate etc. There will be an initial cost of approximately £70, to cover the CRB check, a text book and a college T-shirt (to be worn on placement).
