This course is designed for students who want to acquire a high level of expertise in three languages other than their own. It caters for those who prefer to concentrate exclusively on language learning, without any literature. The course is intended to appeal to people from different countries of the world, coming to work together in a multilingual learning society. With quadrilingual language skills, graduates of these courses will be equipped to succeed in their chosen professions in every continent. You may not study your native/first language.

About this course




Studying Modern Languages opens the door to a wide variety of careers. Many Bangor Modern Languages graduates have, of course, gone into teaching and translating, but just as many have embarked upon successful careers in the civil service, business and commerce, industry and the media. The skills you learn whilst studying languages – cultural awareness, communication, accuracy, planning and logical analysis – are valued highly by employers from all sectors of the economy.

260 240 points. Normally including a foreign language at A2 level.
We consider mature students on individual merit.
These degrees are aimed at students who have not already studied A level Chinese (or equivalent), but will be suitable for students who have a GCSE (or equivalent) in Chinese.

Course programme

What will you study on this course? By studying Chinese you will follow language modules that will build over the years to provide both breadth and depth of understanding geared towards helping students to develop linguistic, analytical and communication skills by both working with others and individually. For the Chinese component of your degree, in Year 1 you will take the two compulsory modules Chinese for Beginners 1 and 2. In Year 2, you will take the compulsory module Chinese Language Skills. Year 3 is spent studying abroad. In your final year, you will study the compulsory 40 credit module Advanced Chinese Language Skills, in addition to completing a 3 language Project (worth 10 credits).
