Who is this course for?
For absolute beginners with no knowledge of the language.

What previous knowledge/experience are required?
None

What is the level of the course?
Beginners 1

What will the course cover and what can I expect to do by the end of it?
Introduction to reading and writing Chinese Mandarin script at a basic level, plus some basic grammar and vocabulary so you can introduce and speak about yourself.

What teaching and learning methods will be used on the course?
As far as possible, all teaching and learning takes place in Chinese Mandarin. You will work in pairs/small groups to practice speaking and listening with worksheets and exercises to develop reading and writing. Homework is set every week and is a vital part of your learning.

How will we assess your progress on the course?
Your tutor will listen to your speaking in class and mark your written work, giving you regular feedback on your progress.

What type of qualification will passing this course give me?
Working Men's College for Women and Men will issue a certificate on completion of beginners 1

What extra study/practice do we expect you to do outside the class?
Regular homework is essential and revision of what has been done on the previous lesson is highly advisable.

What can I do after completing this course?
Available on demand

You will need a pen, paper, enthusiasm and a will to learn. If you need a book your tutor will advise you on which one to buy.

You are required to attend every lesson on time.
