Hear from one of our tutors about studying Christian Theology at Liverpool Hope.
Liverpool Hope has a particular strength in core Christian Theology, which is centred upon research and teaching in the historical, biblical, political and philosophical dimensions of the subject. Within the Department we have internationally renowned scholars, who are all published experts in their own particular fields of expertise. Christian Theology at Hope enjoys the extremely supportive environment of the wider Faculty and Arts and Humanities within the ecumenical foundation of the University as a whole. Our library collections in theology and religion are superb, amounting to well over 100,000 volumes in total, and we are investing significantly in enhancing this even further, particularly with electronic resources.
At Hope, Christian Theology is taught by accomplished academics, all qualified to doctoral level, who bring an enthusiasm for the subject to their work and a commitment to Christian Theology as a progressive academic discipline in its own right. By exploring the textual, historical, political and philosophical aspects of theology, our provision in this area, a full one-half of a joint honours degree, provides you with a holistic and in-depth appreciation of the subject.
Please note: Christian Theology may be taken as one half of a joint honours degree and combined with a wide range of other subjects either within or external to the Department. In addition the Department also has a single honours degree in theology more broadly. This provides the opportunity for the study of the biblical texts in depth, including the 'from-scratch' study of Biblical Greek and the acquisition of core skills in biblical Hebrew.
