Introduction

LSM is recognised by CIMA as a listed tuition Provider. The CIMA course is designed by the "Chartered Institute of Management Accountants" who offers an internationally recognised professional qualification in management accountanting.

The CIMA syllabus is a mix of practical and strategic subjects designed to give you a cutting edge in financial management.

The syllabus is progressive and will develop the student's skills as he/she advances from Foundation level through Managerial level and finally to the Strategic level. On successful completion of the Foundation level students will be awarded a Certificate in Business Accounting. The CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting is an entry requirement to the CIMA Professional Qualification and a recognised qualification in its own right.

To become a Chartered Management Accountant (CMA) students must complete all three levels and gain three years of relevant practical experience. The Foundation level consists of five papers, the Managerial level six papers and the Strategic level three papers, making a total of 14 papers.

Foundation Level

  • Paper C01: Fundamentals of Management Accounting
  • Paper C02: Fundamentals of Financial Accounting
  • Paper C03: Fundamentals of Business Mathematics
  • Paper C04: Fundamentals of Economics for Business
  • Paper C05: Fundamentals of Business Law

Test of Professional Competence in Management Accountant (TOPCIMA):

TOPCIMA is the final exam that students sit. By passing this exam students have proved that they have the ability to transfer their strategic and practical knowledge to a real life business situation. The TOPCIMA has no specific syllabus content.

CIMA Examinations

Students are examined by computer-based assessment (CBA) for all papers C01 to C05 at the Foundation level. These exams can be taken one at a time to suit the student in one of the accredited CBA centres. The papers at Managerial and Strategic levels are assessed through paper based examinations.

Only students who are registered with CIMA may sit examinations. Paper based examinations are held twice a year, in May and November. Strict registration and examination deadlines apply. For examinations in May, students must register by 31 January and for examinations in November, students must register by 31 July. Enrolment on a course at LSM does not automatically register the student with CIMA.

  • Students who complete the Foundation level progress to Managerial level.
  • Students who complete the Managerial level progress to Strategic level.
  • Students who complete the Strategic level and three years relevant practical experience progress to Member CIMA.
