Course Content: Human Resource Planning; Recruitment and Selection; Training; Development of Staff; Payment Systems; Employment Law; Equality and Work-life Balance; Health and Safety; Disciplinary and Grievance Procedures; Employee Relations.

This is a stand-alone qualification, although it may lead to a place on the Leadership & Management element of the degree course (culminating in potential Graduate Membership of the CIPD). Course entrants become Studying Affiliate Members of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), aspiring to Associate Membership at either Salford University or Huddersfield University upon successful completion of the course.

Special Features: Visits to Employment Tribunals; opportunity to attend Branch Meetings of the C.I.P.D.; access to C.I.P.D. website and receipt of "People Management" (the fortnightly magazine published by the Institute).

IMPORTANT: Students are required to arrange registration with the C.I.P.D which costs approximately £160.

Course Format: 4 hours per week (the last hour of which is devoted to production of the major Management Project, with guidance and supervision from the Course Tutor).
