Course programme

The Diploma in HR Practice provides a firm foundation in all areas of HR, as well as an understanding of HR in a business context. It will help you develop essential HR skills and give you the confidence to be more effective at work. Core units covered are: - Developing yourself as an effective HR practitioner - Understanding organisations and the role of HR - Recording, analysing and using HR information Optional units are: - Resourcing talent - Supporting good practice in performance and reward management - Delivering learning and development activities - Supporting good practice in managing employment relations - Supporting change in organisations The Diploma in HR Practice is a foundation-level qualification and is designed to reflect the CIPD Profession Map. It is the equivalent level to NVQ Level 3 and requires a completed total of 37 credits. This course is offered on a taught basis on a Tuesday afternoon from 1300-1700 (HRPa), a Tuesday evening from 1730-2130 (HRPb) or a Wednesday evening 1730-2130 (HRPc) for 35 weeks from week beginning 7th September 2015 with a Thursday evening from 1730-2130 for 9 weeks over the period 14 January to 24 March 2016.The Diploma in HR Practice is split 50:50 between class based study and self study. College study will be a mixture of taught sessions, discussions and practical work. Apart from class time you will need to spend an average of 4 hours per week undertaking research or completing assessment tasks. You will need to able to manage studying twice a week during January, February and March. Each unit will require completion of a mix of written and practical, skill-based assessments. These will be marked by your lecturer and be internally and externally verified.
