CIPS Advanced Diploma in Procurement and Supply - Level 5 Overview

The Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) is the premier global organisation serving the procurement and supply profession. Dedicated to promoting best practice, CIPS provides a wide range of services for the benefit of members and the wider business community.

The CIPS Advanced Diploma in Procurement gives you the knowledge base to reduce cost, improve quality, manage the supply chain and deal with legal issues.

The course is delivered at this 'CIPS Centre of Excellence' by a range of tutors. The course co-ordinator has relevant industry experience and has MCIPS via the Graduate Diploma qualification.

Students must have achieved the CIPS Diploma in Procurement and Supply or the Foundation Diploma in Purchasing and Supply, or have been exempted by CIPS.

Start dates and fees

Please refer to the individual module descriptions for the current course fees. Please note that the fees do not include the study guides for each module, which can be purchased directly from CIPS.

CIPS registration fees and examination fees are also in addition to course fees, and paid directly to CIPS.

How long is the course?

The course takes a minimum of one year depending on the chosen study pattern.

Attendance is part-time afternoon and evening each week, to complete the course in one year.

Alternatively, students can study either afternoons or evenings, which would lead to the level being completed in 18 to 24 months.

How will I be assessed?

Examinations are held during the third week of May and November each year.

Candidates are required to submit entry forms and payment for examinations to CIPS. Details can be found on the CIPS website.

What will I study?

Five modules are studied on the Level 5 course.

Three are compulsory:

• Management in procurement and supply
• Managing risks in supply chains
• Improving the competitiveness of supply chains

and there is a choice of two units from the following options:

• Category management in procurement and supply
• Sustainability in supply chains
• Operations management in supply chains

What can I go on to study?

Once complete, progression is to the CIPS Professional diploma in procurement and supply.
