The Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) is the premier global organisation serving the procurement and supply profession. Dedicated to promoting best practice, CIPS provides a wide range of services for the benefit of members and the wider business community.
The Professional Diploma is targeted at building strategic procurement competence, giving managers the ability to formulate strategic direction and advice, in terms of change management, stakeholder management and team leadership.
The course is delivered at this CIPS 'Centre of Excellence' by a range of tutors. The course co-ordinator has relevant industry experience and has MCIPS via the Graduate Diploma qualification.

Students must have achieved CIPS Advanced Diploma in procurement and supply, or the CIPS Advanced Diploma in Purchasing and Supply, or have been exempted.
Start dates and feesPlease refer to the individual module descriptions for current course fees.
Please note, the fees do not include the study guides for each module, which can be purchased directly from CIPS.
CIPS registration fees and examination fees are also in addition to course fess, and paid directly to CIPS.
How long is the course?The course takes a minimum of one year depending on the chosen study pattern.
Attendance is part-time afternoon and evening each week to complete the course in one year. Alternatively, students can study either afternoons or evenings, leading to the level being completed in 18 to 24 months.

- Derby Road
Examinations are held during the third week of May and November each year. Candidates are required to submit entry forms and payment for examinations to CIPS. Details can be found on the CIPS website.
What will I study?Five modules are studied for the Professional diploma.
Three compulsory units which are:
- Leadership in procurement and supply
- Corporate and business strategy
- Strategic supply chain management
Plus two choice units from the following options:
- Supply chain diligence
- Programme and project management
- Legal aspects in procurement and supply (UK)

What can I go on to study?On successful completion you will be awarded the CIPS Graduate Diploma professional qualification and MCIPS.
