ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
The qualification is accessible to everyone. You will need a positive attitude and a willingness to work hard. This should be reflected in achievement of 4 GCSEs Grade C or above to include Mathematics and English, or Science; satisfactory interview, and completion of a level 1 plumbing course or suitable equivalent. Since the level 2 course is very intensive you will also be required to demonstrate an ability to study.
Independently, a workbook will be issued for you to complete prior to interview. Support in completing this will be available.
WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?
This course is for those wishing to follow a career in areas such as Plumbing, Heating and Gas Installation.
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
As part of the programme of study you will also be expected to develop your key skills in Numeracy, Communication. These qualifications will be integrated into your plumbing studies and will form part of the expected criteria for progression to employment.
Enhancement
City & Guilds Basic Plumbing Certificate is a full time course that could be completed alongside an NVQ in plumbing. In order to do this you will need to have gained employment in the plumbing industry.
Work Experience
Work placements and any work experience are highly desirable but subject to availability. All candidates are expected, and encouraged, to do their best to gain relevant work experience during their course. It is not realistic for the College to be expected to find all trainees a placement; though we will do all we can to assist in finding suitable opportunities. The timetable is designed to give all candidates the opportunity to complete at least one day of work experience within their academic week. Work experience cannot contribute to the successful completion of an NVQ.
Extra Activities
The College can offer a variety of additional qualifications and activities beyond the core course requirements. All students are invited to complete additional qualifications.
HOW WILL I LEARN?
Attendance is a minimum of two and a half days per week, though timetables and attendance patterns may vary. To gain the awards candidates must be successful in all the occupational units including key skills. Generally there is a requirement for completion of practical exercises and knowledge assessments for each unit. It will be your responsibility to update your record book which will show evidence of your experience and achievements. The course is structured and delivered by continuous assessment of practical work which is internally assessed plus theory multi-choice on line exam which is assessed by City and Guilds.
