Suitable for: Entry Requirements: This course does not require any prior Beauty Therapy qualifications, however all students must have a real passion for Nail Technology as this is an intensive course. Currently this course is fully funded by the government for students under 19 years old and as such we are currently unable to offer this course to student over this age.

About this course

If you plan to undertake a full NVQ in Nail Services after the Level 2 Award in Nail Technology you will still need complete the Nail Enhancement unit tests and assessments. However, this course can be used as evidence of your practical skills in some cases.

Course programme

Students that enrol on the Level 2 Award in Nail Technology will learn both the practical and theoretical knowledge needed to prepare and apply nail enhancements.

By the end of this course you will be able to:

  • Provide protection for the natural nail
  • Extend the free edge of the nail using silk and fibreglass extensions
  • Improve the appearance of the hands and nails
  • Understand the environmental conditions suitable for nail enhancements
  • Provide a detailed nail and skin analysis and client consultation
  • Select and use appropriate products, tools and equipment to suit different clients nail conditions and needs
  • Provide suitable aftercare advice

This City and Guilds short course qualification can be completed over an intensive 2 days.

If you have not already completed a Beauty Therapy qualification before you will also need to complete the City and Guilds Level 2 Award in Health and Safety which takes 3 days to complete.
