You require a background in electrical installation i.e. Qualified Electrician and a knowledge of electrical installation principles and should already possess C&G 2381 plus update to C&G2382-20 or preferably 2382-10 i.e. 17th Edition Regulations and C&G2391-10 or equivalant.

Monday Evenings 20 weeks 1900 to 2200hrs (Date to be arranged)
Course Details
Areas to be covered include:- Installation design, current installation practice, project work (including one to one with the course tutor as the project develops), testing and inspecting. There will be sufficient course material and content to place the student in a position to understand the areas being addressed by this course and examination.
Materials | Textbook Requirements
A copy of BS7671 : 2008 the IEE wiring regulations 17th edition Red covers.
Until 2008 Versions are published:
The On-Site Guide incorporating BS7671 : 2001 Brown covers. IEE Guidance Note 1 incorporating BS7671 : 2001 IEE Guidance Note 3 Inspecting and Testing Incorporating BS7671 : 2001, Project Folder, 2 Different colour highlighter pens. A4 Lined Note Pad, Pen and Pencil, calculator, scale rule, drawing pen (do not purchase until after first day of course)
Many of the above items are available from the Centre Stationery, Shop.
Study Requirements
60 Hours of study at the centre with a commitment to additional study and work on the project beyond the hours of attendance at the centre. In cases where students are identified as requiring extra help further study may be undertaken at the lecturer's recommendation or the discretion of the student. This course is offered as part time evening or full days.
Examination / Assessment Details
Students will sit the City & Guilds 2391-20 3 hour written examination, C&G2391-10 is a pre-requisite to cover the inspection & test assessement element of this course, and undertake a Installation Design Project.
Future Prospects
Students will be able to make use of this knowledge as qualifying managers, Designers, or verifiers of installations; and I or assist with the better comprehension of work instructions, installation and verification for practising electricians. Possession of this qualification should enhance both career prospects and job opportunities. Possession of the C & G 2391-20 qualification could be recognised by the NICEIC as a key component for NICEIC enrolment.
