City & Guilds 2391/2392 Inspection, Testing & Certification of Electrical Installations
Course Description:

The scheme has been developed between City & Guilds and the National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting (NICEIC) in order to satisfy the NICEICS requirement that Qualifying Managers and operatives are fully conversant with the requirements of the IEE Wiring Regulations, 17th Edition (BS7671:2008) for inspection, testing and certification of electrical installations. 2392 satisfies the requirements for new works and additions and alterations; and 2391 for new works and additions and alterations and periodic certificates.

Content

The course comprises of the requirements of BS7671 for inspection, testing and certification, practical demonstration of certain tests and preparation for assessments.

Delegates must be familiar with the 17th Edition Wiring Regulations – BS7671:2008 and Guidance Note 3 (Inspection and Testing), these will be provided within the course costs.

You are required to sit an assessment to ascertain to which course is best for you; and it is necessary that you are fully conversant with BS7671:2008.

Duration:

Assessment and Progression: City & Guilds Assessments

Written assessments 2391-10 (301) Inspection, Testing and Certification will be held on dates specified by City & Guilds. The paper is in two sections – 20 short answer questions (1 hour and 6 questions (1 1/2 hours) taken from the whole syllabus.

Practical assessments 2391-10 (302) Inspect, Testing and Certification will be conducted at a time agreed with the lecturer and candidate

Successful candidates (in both assessments) will be awarded the City & Guilds 2391 certificate.

For 2392-10, there will be a 100 minute on-line exam (101) and a practical assessment (102) which will be conducted at a time agreed with the lecturer and candidate.

  • For people working as an Electrician and with significant testing experience : 4 day course, 1 day per week for 4 weeks. The last day to include some practical work.
  • For people with limited experience : 4 day course, 1 day per week for 4 weeks. The last day to include some practical work. Please note that this is for 2392 and therefore only to level 2 requirements.
