No formal qualifications are required. All students will be expected to undertake initial diagnostic tests at level 1 in English, Maths and IT. An appropriate standard of literacy and numeracy; related interests and experience; GCSEs grade G or above.

Certificate in ICT Systems Support - PC Maintenance - Level 1 (7266-11)

Course Content:
Two modules split into 4 units: UNIT 111 - 1. Identify functions of components of a personal computer system 2. Briefly explain Health & Safety and environmental related issues including disposal of used parts. 3. Undertake customer care fundamentals. 4. Identify software to protect home and business computers from security issues. UNIT 102 - 1. Identify parts and peripherals of a PC. 2. Dismantle and assemble a PC. 3. Install an operating system, drivers and applications on a PC. 4. Maintain a PC, peripherals and software.

The units will be internally assessed through portfolio evidence and externally moderated. You will study basic skills in Communication at Level 1. Students will also attend enrichment activities and tutorials.

Progression:
Successful students on the level 1 course can progress to relevant level 2 qualifications.
