Introduction
This first level course offers an enjoyable introduction into the world of floristry. Once successful, you can move onto the City & Guilds Level 2 Award, Certificate or Diploma in Floristry or Diploma in Work-based Floristry Level 2.

About the course

This is a one-year course, you will spend three days a week in college, one day at work experience and one day on self study and enrichment.

The course includes

• Developing your personal skills and working within in a team
  
• Learning Health and Safety within floristry
  
• Identifying flowers, foliages and plants
  
• Carrying out basic floristry tasks including conditioning materials and fresh flower display maintenance
  
• Assembling basic floral designs including arrangements and wired-work plus gift wrapping
  
• Assemble planted designs including assembly of bowls, baskets and individual plants
  
• Plan and create a shop display
  
• Functional skills in Maths, English or ICT
  

Length of the course

• 1 year - includes one day a week at a work placement in the industry

• Level 1 Diploma in Landbased Studies
