Is it for me?
The course aims to provide you with the essential professional skills for a career in the hairdressing industry.
What do I need?
Three GCSE grades D-E are required and you must have completed NVQ Hairdressing Level 1. You will meed to have an initial assessment in Numeracy, Literacy and ICT, Level 1 or above. You will also need good communication and interactive skills. An interview is required for this course.
What will I study?
The course involves the professional study of all aspects of hairdressing, health and safety, working and communicating with others, client care and reception duties. You will develop knowledge and understanding of all the above subjects. All students will also develop their skills through work experience in the hairdressing industry (one full day per week).
Where will I study?
Baltic Campus
You'll be based at our fantastic £39million Baltic campus on the quayside. The campus has a prime location on Gateshead quayside, and state-of-the-art facilities including a Jacuzzi, gym and sauna, a 200 seat theatre, state-of-the-art classrooms, training kitchen and restaurant, refectory, bistro and vending areas.
How will I be assessed?
Your work will be continuously assessed using assignments, case studies, practical work, oral and written questioning.You will develop your practical skills in our industry standard salons.
How will I be taught?
You will be taught by an experienced team of lecturers, in industry standard salons.
What qualification will I get?
City & Guilds NVQ Level 2 Hairdressing
Can I go on to further study?
You could progress to NVQ level 3, advanced hairdressing and management or training. Our hairdressing students consistently achieve employment in the hairdressing industry. Year on year 100% of students completing the course have achieved the full award.
What are the career opportunities?
As a qualified junior stylist you can pursue your career in a variety of areas which include hairdressing salon, cruise liners, freelance, and TV to name a few.
Financial information
