Is it for me?
Level 3 is a Specialist Award which will allow you to greatly develop your hairdressing skills.
What do I need?
To enrol on NVQ Level 3 Hairdressing you must

• have an initial assessment in Numeracy, Literacy and ICT - level 2 or above
• be qualified to NVQ Level 2
• have been working in a salon/self employed for a minimum of 3 years
• be competent in all areas of basic hairdressing

What will I study?
You will study:

• Advanced Cutting Techniques
• Advanced Perming Techniques
• Advanced Colouring Techniques
• Business Financial Effectiveness
• Health and Safety
• Creating Photographic/Fashion Show Images current and emerging
• Dressing Hair Photographic/Promotional Imaging
• Promotional Event Planning

Where will I study?
Baltic Campus
You'll be based at our fantastic £39million Baltic campus on the quayside. The campus has a prime location on Gateshead quayside, and state-of-the-art facilities including a Jacuzzi, gym and sauna, a 200 seat theatre, state-of-the-art classrooms, training kitchen and restaurant, refectory, bistro and vending areas.
How will I be assessed?
By continual observation of your practical work, projects, assignments, oral and written questions when it is agreed between yourself and your tutor that you are ready.
How will I be taught?
Although the college runs a simulation salon for the more advanced expectations of NVQ3 assessment it would be helpful if you could build a network of clients for specific assessment needs. You will also have to provide scissors, combs, brushes, hairdryer though not perm rods/colouring tools.

City & Guilds NVQ Hairdressing Level 3
Can I go onto further study?
Yes you can progess to initial teacher training in Further/Higher Education:-

• C&G 7303 Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (12 weeks) or
• Certificate in Education (Year 1)

What are the career opportunities?
NVQ Level 3 provides a mandatory link prior to: Embarking on a career in teaching; Opening and running a successful business; Training staff; Supervising/managing a salon
