CLAIT 2006 OCR Level 1
Who is this for?
The course is aimed at students who have some experience of using a computer. You may have completed an introductory or beginners course and would like to learn more about the latest software. You should be able to use a keyboard and mouse.

What Will I Learn?
You will learn about file management and how to produce integrated documents using Microsoft Word. You can then choose from the following topics: - Excel to create spreadsheets and graphs. You can learn useful skills for returning to work or helping with homework. - Students can learn about using and manipulating data in databases to store and retrieve data. - Publisher is used to create new sheets and posters. - Create presentations using PowerPoint. - Learn how to produce art work and drawings using Publisher. - Create web pages and learn how to link them using Microsoft FrontPage. - Learn about the internet and using Email.

Content of the Course
This course allows you to develop practical skills or update your skills using a range of the latest Microsoft software. The Level 1 Computer Literacy and Information Technology Certificate (CLAIT 2006) is a nationally recognised course for professional or personal purposes. You can gain a CLAIT certificate by completing 3 units â€" file management and word processing plus 2 other units or work towards a diploma by completing 2 additional units.

Equipment Needed
Paper and a pen. It is useful to have a folder to store your notes.

Work needed to be Done outside of the Classroom
Extra practice exercises are available if you wish, but this is not a necessary part of the course.

Assessment Details
Assessment takes place in the classroom, with your tutor, when you are comfortable with the topic. It is not under exam conditions.
