Aims and Objectives

In order to gain full accreditation at CLAIT Plus you are required to demonstrate competence through practical assessments in three computer applications. The most popular of these applications are Word Processing, Spreadsheet and Database. You will obtain the skills necessary to successfully complete the OCR CLAIT Plus examination.

Target Audience

Users of computer applications.

Unit 01 - Create, Manage and Integrate Files

use a computer's system software safely and securely, to create and manage files and directories/folders, use an input device to enter data accurately from, a variety of sources, work with datafiles using database and/or spreadsheet facilities to select and import data, create and print an integrated document, combining, text, numeric and tabular data and an image and chart, format page layout and manipulate text according, to a house style.

Unit 02 - Spreadsheets

enter, edit and manipulate data, create formulae and use common functions, format and present data, link live data from one spreadsheet to another, use spreadsheets to solve problems and project results.

Unit 03 - Databases

create a database file, set up fields and enter test data, import and interrogate data using complex search criteria, present data in various report formats including list and labels, format and present reports.

Unit 04 - Desktop Publishing

set up master page/template and style sheet according to a design brief, import and manipulate text and image file(s), amend publication content using proof correction symbols, prepare a publication for press.

Unit 05 - Presentation Graphics

create a presentation, set up a master slide, insert and manipulate data, control a presentation, support a presentation.

Unit 07 - Web Page Creation

create web pages from unformatted source, material, use standard images and formatting to create a consistent house style, create and format tables, frames and forms, use META tags to define content, set dimensions, alignment and other attributes of page items.

Unit 08 - Electronic Communications

use advanced e-mail features to co-ordinate information set up distribution lists and use address book, use PIM software to organise schedules and business data manage mailbox and folders, publish/print calendar dates.

Unit 09 - Graphs and Charts

select and control data source, present data using graphs and charts formatting axis and labels, format the presentation of graphs and charts use graphs to extrapolate information to predict, future values.
