CLAIT Stage 1

Course aim

To assess the candidates' ability to use computers and information technology effectively in common applications. The course also provides a comprehensive basis for these intending to go on to more specialized or advanced studies.

Course content

The course is split into 3 areas. These are Word processing, Spreadsheets and Databases.

Word processing - In this module the following topics will be covered:

• Entering, saving and printing text in the required format
• Inserting and deleting words and paragraphs
• Replacing words and changing layouts

Spreadsheets - In this module the following topics will be covered:

• Enter and edit text and numerical data
• Copy entries, change format and use formula

Databases - In this module the following topics will be covered:

• Setting up a database and entering data
• Sort records and search for one or more criteria

Assessment

Once the candidate has successfully completed the above tasks, he/she will be accredited with an OCR CLAIT 1 Certificate.

Duration

The course will last for 15 weeks. There will be a 2 hour session per week.
