The art room at Stoke Lodge is warm with good lighting. Sculptors move around the posing model. The tutor gives guidance as needed. We have anatomy sessions and also work on finishes to fired pieces.

About this course
To provide and opportunity to make 3D ceramic sculpture of the human form from observation with the option to have pieces fired.
To encourage personal skills and style to develop through experience.
Any adult who would like to:
Experience clay sculpture working from a live model.
Make sculpture in a group setting.
Gain modelling skills, e.g. for dentistry or animation.
Receive guidance on using clay and tools for sculpture.
No experience necessary.

High quality of teaching from a professional sculptor.

Course programme
- Live models pose for two or three sessions allowing sculptors time to work on a single piece for up to 9 hours over three sessions.
- Participants make clay sculpture by moving around the studio to view the model from variuos angles.
- Guidance from the tutor tailored to the needs of individual participants.
- Pieces of completed clay sculpture can be fired by arrangement with the tutor, at cost.
- Tools and materials provided.
- Mix of beginners and experienced sculptors so people learn from eachother as well as the tutor.
- Anatomy sessions to improve knowledge of the human body.
