About this course


This apprenticeship is suitable for those who are currently working within this sector or are looking to gain employment within this sector as a Clinical Healthcare Support Worker or Healthcare Assistant. These roles provide vital assistance to healthcare professionals that diagnose, treat and care for patients. They work in clinical services such as medical, surgical, outpatients, community and A&E. They are also involved in looking after the wellbeing and comfort of patients.

This is dependent on your employer and on the level of the apprenticeship you apply for.

You will normally need at least grade C or above in your English and maths GCSEs. If you don't have these, don't worry. You can work towards your functional skills in English and maths alongside your apprenticeship training at St Helens College.

  • Competence and Knowledge Qualification - Level 2 Diploma in Clinical Healthcare Support
  • Level 2 Award in Employment and Personal Learning Skills in Health

  • Level 1 Functional Skills English (NCFE)

Additional information
