CMI Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership

Introduction
This qualification is designed for senior managers who have the responsibility for developing and implementing organisational strategy. This qualification is at postgraduate level. Qualifications at this level recognise highly developed and complex levels of knowledge which enable the development of in-depth and original responses to complicated and unpredictable problems and situations. Learning at this level involves demonstration of high level specialist professional knowledge and is appropriate for senior professionals and managers.

• How to ensure that the performance of the team contributes to meeting strategic objectives.
• How to understand financial data, develop and make judgements on proposals against strategic objectives.
• Understand how to use management information to inform and support strategic decision making
• How to identify, research and produce results on an investigative project, and evaluate its impact.
• How to review strategic aims and objectives, analyse progress towards achievement and evaluate alternatives.
• How to develop a project plan and understand its impact on strategic objectives.
• To understand how to identify and develop change strategies to meet organisational objectives.
• To understand the role of human resource planning and the links with strategic objectives.

Suitability

The Diploma in Strategic Management & Leadership is designed for senior managers who want to further develop their management and leadership skills at a strategic level.

Assessment

Successful completion of 8 assignments and a work-based project of 7500 â€" 10,000 words followed by a presentation. The project is an integrated part of the programme and counts for 10 credits.

Progression

Qualifications at this level are at a level equivalent to Masters Degrees, Postgraduate
Certificates and Postgraduate Diplomas. The programme is approved by the Open University (30 M points) for candidates wishing to progress onto a Masters Degree.
