Are you interested in the cognitive and behavioural approaches? Then, this course is for you! This 2 days course introduces you to a social learning approach to substance misuse problems and the principles of cognitive-behavioural therapy.
Having as a primary focus, to work with addictions and it is also applicable to many other mental health.

About this course
By the end of the course participants will be able to:
- Discuss the social learning approach to understanding addiction problems.
- Describe how thoughts, feelings and behaviour interconnect
Relate a cognitive-behavioural approach to the 'stages of change' model.
- Enable clients to set behavioural goals.
- Enable clients to identify cognitive and behavioural cues related to their addictive behaviours such as drinking, drug use and gambling.
- Enable clients to identify the functions their problem behavior has for them and use this understanding to prevent relapse.
Practitioners whose job role allows for doing ongoing therapeutic work with service users who are interested and willing.
