Combined Hairdressing & Beauty Therapy NVQ Level 2

Course content:
This is a two year full-time combined course which has been specifically designed for those who wish to follow a career in both Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy. Each subject is studied during the two years.
During the course arrangements are made for students to visit demonstrations and competitions.
In recent years South Tyneside College Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy students have been winners of numerous National and International awards. This philosophy of intensive creative training with a professional attitude has proved to be a winning combination.
The course will cover the following areas:
* The theory and practice of Hairdressing up to Level 2
* Make-up and eye treatments
* Manicure and pedicure
* Depilation/Waxing
* Anatomy and physiology
* Manual facial treatments
* Information Technology
* Health, Safety & Hygiene
* Salon Productivity

Assessment procedure:
Students will be entered for:
NVQ Level 2 in Hairdressing which is assessment based.
NVQ Level 2 Beauty Therapy also assessment based.
VTCT Face and Body Painting


Qualifications achieved:
NVQ in Hairdressing level 2
C & G Beauty Therapy, NVQ level 2

Progression opportunities:
Employment prospects are excellent for qualified hairdressing and beauty therapy personnel.
Destination is wide and varied:- Hairdressing Salon, Beauty Salon/Clinic, Leisure Centre, Health Farm, Epilation, Remedial Camouflage in Hospitals, Ocean Liner, Cosmetic Hall Technical Representative.

Beauty Therapy NVQ level 3
Entry to this third and final year is by interview only.
You will study:-
* Make-up including media make-up & specialist techniques
* Facial and body treatments, manual, electrical & mechanical
* Heat treatments
* Epilation
* Aromatherapy
* Business Management
