The advantage of the Combined Social Science degree is that it enables you to construct a suitable academic profile that meets your career aspirations e.g working with young people, criminal justice, community work.

How do I study the course?

You'll be based at the Camborne campus, benefiting from new facilities and buildings, including an arts and media centre, a student bar, artificial turf pitch and new lecture theatres, making the learning experience one of the best in the county. This is normally a 3-Year full time degree course of 14 hours per week starting in September but arrangements can be made for students wishing to study part time. Applications to be made through UCAS but late applications can be negotiated through the college. Most students will qualify for student loans.

What can I do after this course?

Any degree improves employment prospects. Most employers realise that the achievement of a degree signifies the ability to work at a high level of independence and application. A social science degree is particularly useful for those people who wish to work in areas where society interacts with individuals and where a knowledge of social policy is required. Past students have gone on to work in local government, community development, housing departments, youth justice, teaching, post graduate research, care work, armed forces, police and youth and community work, all of which are areas informed by a knowledge of social science
