Opera had only just been invented when Shakespeare died, and it didn’t appear in England for another century. But his characters have been the subjects of many operatic masterpieces. Our course will include works by Rossini, Gounod, Verdi and Britten. The operas will be shown on DVD and/or CD, with illustrations on the piano.Come to the Opera
