Describe key features of relevant legislation and the impact of current legislation on workplace policies and procedures. Show awareness and understanding of the 5 key outcomes of Every Child Matters. Demonstrate effective communication skills when working with children, families and colleagues. Work autonomously and with colleagues in the children's workforce to promote integrated working initiatives. Select and justify approaches to tasks in line with workplace requirements and legislation regarding safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children as well as information sharing.

This course aims to provide an overview of the background to the Common Core Set of Knowledge and Skills in relation to The Children Act 2004 and Every Child Matters. To raise awareness of the role of the Common Core Set of Skills and Knowledge in developing good practice guidlines. to build on existing work experience and knowledge with a focus on improving and developing skills required to work with children and families.
