This is the course following the Common Induction Standards (CIS) set by Skills for Care for people entering adult's social care, those changing roles and employers. The common induction standards set out the basic facts that care workers need to know to provident effective care. Each standard contains a number of areas of knowledge that care workers need to know about before they can work unsupervised.

Course programme
The course covers the following units:
- The principles of care
- The organisation and the role of the worker
- Safety at work
- Effective communication
- Recognition and response to abuse and neglect
- Development as a social care worker
You will be expected to meet the standards and complete a workbook within 12 weeks of starting your employment. You will be supported by Focus Care Professionals mainly on an individual basis until your complete your workbook. Your workbook will be signed off.
What can l do on completion?
You will gain the skills of being an effective care worker in the adult sector. Some of the skills are also transferable to other areas such as child care. Evidence for the care induction course can also be used towards NVQ's in care.
